July 2003: Planning Institute of Jamaica: GFE organized a Conference at
Knutsford Hotel on the results of the "Modernisation programme of the
Administration of Jamaica". The experts of GFE Mitchinson, Ennis,
Chaput and Bussy presented the changes they have proposed and implemented to
transform the Jamaican administration into cost effective and efficient
public administration. Ulrich Daldrup was Chairman of that conference

Invited by the Government of Mauritius Dr. Ulrich Daldrup, together with he Managing Director of the Chamber of Handicrafts (Handwerkskammer) Frankfurt, Dr. Jürgen Schwappach, has evaluated the situation of the SME-sector of the country. Based on that analysis, a policy for a new SME politics (Mittelstandspolitik) in the country had been worked out and presented on July 23, 2001 to an audience of delegates of ministries and SME associations. It had been decided to introduce in the coming years basics of these recommendations in the politics of the country. Dr. Daldrup was also received by the v Prime-Minister Paul Berrenger, the Minister of Industry Meethok, the Minister of Training Fowdar, the Minister of Tourism Bodha and the Minister of Handicrafts P. Koonjoo. |

Auf Einladung der Universität Skopje und der deutschen GTZ hat Dr. Ulrich Daldrup in der dortigen Universität vor Vertrtern der mazedonischen Regierung, der Wirtschaft, der Stadt Skopje und der Universität einen Vortrag mit anschleißender Diskussion zum Thema: "Technologietransfer und Technologiezentren als Chance zur Förderung der Wirtschaft und Schaffung von Arbeitsplätzen" gehalten. Durch den Vortrag aufmerksam geworden lud Wirtschaftsminister Besnik Jetai Dr. Ulrich Daldrup zu einem Meinungsaustausch in sein Dienstzimmer. Trotz der derzeitigen Unruhen in Mazedonien wird im Oktober 2001 ein Besuch mazedonischer Vertreter der Universität und des dortigen Wirtschaftsministeriums nach Aachen kommen, um das Aachener Modell der Technologiezentren vor Ort kennenzulernen. |

160 Gäste zählte die Aachener MIT an dem Diskussions- abend zu dem den Mittelstand stark tangierenden Thema der Unternehmensgesetze. Nach einführenden Referaten von Herbert Weisskirchen und Frau Hildegard Müller folgte eine von Ulrich Daldrup moderierte Diskussion. Diskussionspartner waren:
Schwerpunkt der Diskussion war das Betriebsverfas- sungsgesetz, welches noch in diesem Jahr eine neue, ausgesprochen gewerkschaftsfreundliche Neufassung erhalten soll. Mehr hierzu auf den MIT Seiten.

Auf Einladung der Mittelstandsvereinigung begrüßte Gastgeber Ulrich Daldrup Herrn Prof. Dr. Erich Greipl, Geschäftsführer der METRO Vermögensverwaltungs GmbH u. Co KG, Düsseldorf, im Aachener Lenné pavillon vor etwa 260 Gästen. Thema des Abends waren die brennenden Fragen des Einzelhandels in Deutschland und die Zukunft der Aachener Innenstadt. Im Anschluß an einen Vortrag Prof. Greipls über die Aussichten und Chancen des Einzelhandels führte Ulrich Daldrup durch einen Diskussionsabend, an welchem:
teilnahmen.. Zum Abschluß des Abends berichtete der anwesende Mittelstandsminister von Mauritius, Koonjoo über die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung seines Landes. |

Samstag
Aachen, 24.3.2001: Im ausverkauften Europasaal des Eurogress fand
erstmals der Ball der MIT (Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsvereinigung
Aachen) in gemeinsamer Veranstaltung mit der Big Band Nütheim Schleckheim
im statt. Die Aachener Presse lobte diesen Ball als "perfekt". Die
650 Eintrittskarten waren bereits bevor die Werbung anfing, komplett
verkauft. Der Europasaal des Eurogress war mit einzigartigem Blumenschmuck
in eine blühende Frühlingslandschaft verzaubert worden. Bis Mitternacht
wurde nach der ausgesuchten Tanzmusik der Big Band getanzt. Nach der Begrüßung
durch Ulrich Daldrup eröffnete er den Ball mit seiner Frau nach den
Klängen des 2nd Valse von Dimitri Tschoskakovicz.
Am 16. März 2002 wird dieser Ball im nächsten Jahr wieder stattfinden. |

Die MIT Mittelstandsvereinigungen von Aachen, Kreis Aachen, Düren, Heinsberg und Euskirchen haben am Freitag, 1. Februar 2001 um 18:30 Uhr zu einer Voreröffnung der Aachener Carolustherme, Passstraße, eingeladen. Unter dem Thema "Die MIT geht baden" haben 700 Gäste der MIT und der Therme die rund 70 Millionen DM teure Therme, die luxuriöste in Deutschland bewundern dürfen. Bei 32 C konnte, nach kurzen Statements von dem Aachener Kur- und Badedirektor Werner Schlösser, die Therme mit ihren zahllosen Angeboten eingehend bewundert werden. Für Aachen ist diese Therme ein einzigartiger Höhepunkte der Veredlung des Themas Wasser. Mit dieser Therme knüpft Aachen erneut an die 2000 jährige Tradition als Bäder- und Wasserstadt an. |

Maastricht, 23. 2. 2001: 150 Delegierte der fünf Volksparteien CDU, CDA, CSP. PSC und CVP aus Deutschland, Belgien und den Niederlanden haben sich am 23. Januar 2001 im Gouvernorat von Maastricht zusammengefunden, um mit viel Idealismus die erste grenzüberschreitende regionale EVP - Europäische Volkspartei, zu gründen. Sitz der EVP Euregio Maas-Rhein ist Maastricht. Keine andere Partei in der EU hat bisher einen vergleichbaren Schritt getan. Die CDU der Stadt Aachen hat acht Delegierte in die EVP entsandt. Zwei dieser Delegierten sind Mitglieder des Vorstandes der MIT Aachen: Gabi Breuer und Dr. Ulrich Daldrup. Die belgische CSP hat Herbert Weisskirchen, ebenfalls MIT Vorstand, sogar für das Präsidium benannt. Die euregionale EVP hat neben einer Geschäftsordnung auch ein umfangreiches Arbeitsprogramm verabschiedet. Vieles was europäisch noch nicht geregelt ist aber in Grenzregionen das grenzüberschreitende Zusmmenleben erschwert, soll von der EVP aufgegriffen und einer Lösung zugeführt werden. Aachen, 18.1.2001: Gemeinsam mit MIT Aachen und dem von der Bundesregierung finanzierten Programm "Deutsch-Indische Wirtschaftsförderung - IGEP", durchgeführt von der Aachener Firma GFE, wurden in der Aachener AGIT - Technologiezentrum die ersten Deutsch-Indischen Informatiktage durchgeführt. Der große indische Softwareverband NASSCOM war sowohl durch seinen Präsidenten als auch seinen Chairman vertreten. Die 20 größten und bedeutendsten indischen Softwarehäuser haben sich zahlreichen deutschen IT-Firmen vorgestellt um Kooperationen anzubahnen. Dr. Kebschull, der seit 13 Jahren in Dehli deutsch-indische Wirtschaftskooperationen anbahnt und sich durch zahlreiche Veröffentlichungen als Fachmann für deutsch-indische Wirtschaftsfragen ausgewiesen hat, hat durch seinen Vortrag über IT-Unternehmen in Indien den Vortrag des NASSCOM Präsidenten Phiroz Vandrevala ergänzt. Nach den guten Erfahrungen dieses bilateralen IT-Tages soll nun jedes Jahr in Aachen ein Deutsch-Indischer Informatiktag stattfinden. |

Lithuania: The Rectors of the University of Applied Sciences of
Aachen (Prof. Dr. Hermann Buchkremer) and of the Technical University of
Kaunas (Prof. Dr. Ramutis Bansevicius) sign an agreement of co-operation
between both universities. The objective of the agreement is to allow
the exchange of students and professors, the promotion of academic
co-operation projects and the realization of an information network.
This is the first co-operation agreement of the KTU with a German
university. This agreement had been initiated by former Rector of KTU,
Prof. Dr. Kestutis Krisciunas during two visits to Aachen Universities
in 1998 and 2000. The agreement between the two universities was
initiated by Dr. Daldrup.

Lithuania: Dr, Ulrich Daldrup received a Dr. honoris causa from the
Technical University of Kaunas (KTU). He received this distinction for
his support to the Technical University of Kaunas, the realization of
the first Technology Centre of the University and his engagement in
favour of the Lithuanian economy since independence of the nation. Former
Rector Prof. Dr. Krisciunas held the laudatory. German
Ambassador Detlof von Berg, Rector Prof. Buchkremer from Aachen
University, former v-Rector of KTU Arunas Lukosevicius and Prof.
Robertas Jucevicius of KTU held additional laudatories. Dr.
Daldrup announced in his lecture a new foundation, that will support
students and professors from Kaunas to study or teach at
Aachens´Universities.

Mauritius: The President of Mauritius, Hon. Cassam Uteem received
a second time in 2000 Dr. Daldrup to agree on the opening of an office
of the Mauritian Board of Investments in Europe. This office should be
opened in Aachen, Germany. The closer co-operation of German
Handwerkskammern in Mauritius to push the vocational training in the
country was agreed to, as well as the organization of Mauritian days in
Germany in summer 2001 at the occasion of the opening of the first
Mauritian embassy in Germany in January 2001 in Berlin. Ambassador
Jagdish Haton was introduced to the owner of the MARITIM
hotel group Ms. Dr. Monika Gommolla by Dr. Daldrup. Dr. Gommolla
proposed to organize the Mauritius days in the MARITIM hotels of Cologne
and of Berlin.

Rector of the Technical University of Kaunas (Lithuania), Prof. Dr.
Kestutis Krisciunas, visited with both his vice-Rectors and Dr. Pranas
Milius, Director of the Technolgy Center of that University, GFE
Headquarters in Aachen. The Rector had meetings with the Rector of the
Technical University of Aachen, Prof. B. Rauhut, the Rector of the
University of Applied Science of Aachen, Prof. Dr. Buchkrämer and with
GFE Chairman Dr. Daldrup. GFE assists since 1998 the University of
Kaunas to create and manage the Technology Center. Subject of the
meetings was a closer co-operation between the universities and the
creation of a "Technology Transfer Department" in Kaunas.

10.10.2000 - Lusaka, Zambia: European Commission had charged the companies AGORA2000 of Roma and GFE to organize the third international conference on Mining "MINES 2000" in Lusaka. After the official opening by the vice President of Zambia, Chairman Daldrup held the technical opening speech to the 450 participants. 130 new mining projects had been presented, all based in the SADC countries. This building will serve as Technology Center 2. Technology Center 1 is completely booked out with the creation of 100 new working places only in the year 1999.
